Full time groom required for Mane Chance Horse Sanctuary

We are a growing farm near Guildford operating as a charity that rescues and rehabilitates abused, abandoned and old horses, integrating them with the local community. We are seeking a groom who is reliable, trustworthy, hardworking and physically fit as an addition to our team. We currently have 31 horses on site, living out in a track and field system of 68 acres. You must be flexible and with a willingness to learn as we have an unconventional approach to horse care using a method of gentle calm and trust – you will receive guidance in this method of rehabilitation which not only enhances the recovery of the horses themselves; but helps to provide a healing environment for visitors to the Sanctuary. You must be a good team member, able to work alone on site or with the horses, as well as within a team of other staff and volunteers.

This is a really exciting opportunity for a groom to work in an environment where emotionally and/or physically damaged horses are given care and attention; enabling them in turn to offer support and relief to visiting adults and children, including those who are poorly or with additional needs – an interaction that you may be required to facilitate.

This is a full time role, involving some weekend working and is initially offered as a one year fixed term contract. You must have a full, valid driving licence and it is preferable that you have your own car as we are a little out of the way; we will also need to complete a DBS check on the successful applicant for safeguarding purposes.

The position is paid at the National Living Wage (varies according to age of successful applicant) and is available immediately. Please email office@manechancesanctuary.org with a copy of your CV and a little about why you would like to join our team!  A full job profile can be downloaded using the link below.
