Join the Mane Chance Community Team!
Do you have experience of working with children and those with additional needs?
Do you also have experience with horses?

We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic person to join us here at the Sanctuary in a busy, yet extremely rewarding role within our community team.

We wish to employ a community assistant who will organise, host and lead visits to Mane Chance to meet our extraordinary herd of rescued horses and so experience some respite away from the challenges of everyday lives. Visitors will include those with additional needs, schools, community groups and more – young and old – our site enables both general meet and greets as well as volunteering opportunities for all. We do not ride our horses at Mane Chance, so you do not need to teach these skills; but we have a wonderful, specialised gentle method of horse care which you will be taught and which enables some truly memorable moments to take place!
You will work under the direction of our community co-ordinator, but will be required to research and liaise with groups to ensure that they can gain the best from their time with us at the charity. You will tailor visits to individual’s needs and capabilities, prepare the associated paperwork as well as work with the grooms when time is spent with our horses. You may be required to travel and present talks to promote the work of our charity and to assist with fundraising initiatives. Part of the role will be to lead our Duke of Edinburgh volunteering programme as well as provide one to one horse-caring experiences for families.

You will need to be able to work flexibly, as some weekend or evening visits may be scheduled and a general equine confidence is also required as you will be directly involved with the horses. In addition, much of the time will be spent working outside in our tracks and fields – and in all weathers, so you must be prepared for that too!

Experience of working with groups of children and/or those with additional needs is essential and you will be DBS checked as part of the recruitment process – as with most organisations, safeguarding is of paramount importance to us.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a huge difference to the work of Mane Chance and to provide some truly special memories for those who visit us. We are so keen to share our rehabilitated horses with all those who would benefit from time with them, and this role is integral to pursuing this part of our dream – enabling our rescued horses to have a role within society.

If you are interested in joining us and fulfil the above criteria, please email or call 01483 351526 and we would be delighted to let you know more. To apply, we will require an up to date CV with a covering letter either by email to the same address or by post to the Sanctuary.
