Jo joined as as a volunteer a few months ago but has already made a real impact at Mane Chance. A gardener by trade, Jo originally came to volunteer with the horses and to step away from her day job; but it didn't take long for her to be tempted to use her vast knowledge of all things horticultural to help us with the community garden too. So not only do we get Jo's expertise in the garden, our horses benefit from spending time with her as well.
Unfortunately, the Covid-19 lockdown took hold in March and so we haven't seen any of our volunteers for a number of weeks now, Jo included. We were therefore thrilled when she told us of her plan to raise some funds for us from home in a hugely brave way! She sought sponsorship to allow her husband near with hair clippers! A just giving page was set up and Jo set a target of £500, soon surpassed. She raised the bar to £1000 and we were delighted that she reached this amazing amount on the morning of the cut! Her husband got to work and he did a wonderful job - in fact, Jo looks fantastic with the new style. By the end of the day, her fundraising efforts had topped £1300 and we are so, so grateful to her for helping us at such a difficult time.
Not only does our community garden look great but Jo went the extra mile for us by braving the hair clippers too. Thank you Jo - you really are a Mane Chance hero.
