Jay-J

Year of birth 2012
Height 15.1 hh
Date arrived at Mane Chance 2013
Gender Gelding
Description in one word Supportive
Equine best friend: Gwen

When Jay-J came to us he was a nervous and unpredictable horse.  Almost immediately, he formed a relationship with Gwen, probably our most sensitive horse on the site, but also a mare with great inner strength as she had been through some truly horrible beatings.  Jay-J sought support from her and in return gave her companionship.  They are inseparable and are the ‘parents’ of the herd in which they reside.  Jay-J has gained such confidence from Gwen and she has gained such security from him – it’s a truly wonderful relationship where both have helped each other and together they form a very strong partnership.  Jay-J has come on leaps and bounds with his human interactions – his increased confidence means that he is now alongside the other horses when human scratches are on offer – and he loves a belly scratch!  He strikes a handsome figure in the herd and is admired by all that meet him.  His progress has been amazing and his role at Mane Chance as the ‘father’ of the youngsters is hugely important for the wellbeing of the herd as a whole.
