Mia

We had a call for help as a Sanctuary was facing closure due to lack of finances and loss of their land.  28 horses needed immediate rehoming and whilst World Horse Welfare had been able to assist with the majority, there were still 4 horses without anywhere to go.  Two of the horses were very elderly and the other two were their companions, so options were limited – older horses are always hard to find homes for.  We agreed to take all 4 of the group, allowing them to come to us together and stay as a small herd.

We know very little about Mia - in fact, the only thing we do know is that her passport name is actually 'Mama Mia'!  However, there is limited other information on her passport and many details are missing including her age. Our vet estimates that she is late teens to early twenties, but that's only from looking at her teeth.  We believe she may have been a brood mare in her past life too.

Mia is a lovely horse and is incredibly friendly.  She loves human interaction and enjoys lots of fuss and attention - she is firm favourite of the staff, volunteers and visitors alike.  She has adapted to life at Mane Chance very easily – she loves the track system, using it brilliantly to exercise and explore, yet always manages to be in the right place at the right time when people arrive to give out scratches and cuddles!
