We had a call for help as a Sanctuary was facing closure due to lack of finances and loss of their land. 28 horses needed immediate rehoming and whilst World Horse Welfare had been able to assist with the majority, there were still 4 horses without anywhere to go. Two of the horses were very elderly and the other two were their companions, so options were limited – older horses are always hard to find homes for. We agreed to take all 4 of the group, allowing them to come to us together and stay as a small herd.
Wynner is the son of Bronwen, both stocky Section D Welsh cobs. He is 19 years old but has never lived apart from his mother, and he is a sensitive boy. Wynner is a very affectionate horse, but he has a lot to learn still. As Bronwen is getting older, we need to teach him to be a little more independent - he needs to be prepared for the future. He also needs to learn how to control his excitement with people - he can be a little overwhelming purely due to enthusiasm! He is incredibly inquisitive and doesn’t miss a trick – he is always first to the fence when a visitor is approaching, making sure he is the head of the queue for a cuddle and a scratch! We are delighted to help Wynner develop his social skills a little more - he is a wonderful addition to our herds and he can look forward to a life of peace, safety and stability with us.
